AI-aligned senior reskilling at a boutique data analytics consultancy
A senior consultant at a boutique data analytics and AI consultancy in Singapore, reskilled into a redesigned AI-aligned delivery role with AI Users Technical Skills Competencies embedded directly into the on-the-job training plan.
Industry context
The client operated a boutique data analytics consultancy that was repositioning itself toward AI-led advisory: generative AI tooling, AI-augmented client delivery, AI strategy work alongside the existing analytics engagements. A senior consultant in the firm needed their formal scope expanded to incorporate that capability as a structured part of the role, not as a side-project layer.
What changed and why CCP applied
The redesign was substantive enough to justify a Job Redesign reskilling claim rather than business-as-usual upskilling. The current role had been built around traditional analytics delivery: business intelligence, dashboard work, data infrastructure advisory. The proposed role added AI Users TSCs, generative AI tooling adoption across client engagements, and AI-augmented delivery methodology as core scope, displacing more than half of the prior responsibilities.
Our strategy
We documented the candidate's current vs proposed scope side by side, with the AI Users Technical Skills Competencies embedded explicitly into the proposed JD. The training plan was structured around real client engagements rather than theoretical modules, so the reskilling delivered both individual development and immediate revenue impact. This is a common reskilling pattern in services firms: the OJT becomes both a training programme and a productive delivery vehicle.
OJT activities included
- Drafting current and redesigned Job Descriptions with explicit scope delta, framed against the firm's strategic shift toward AI-led advisory.
- Embedding AI / GenAI competency frameworks into the OJT plan, with each competency mapped to a specific deliverable on a real client engagement.
- Producing TSC scoping documentation referencing national skills frameworks, so the reskilling rationale was anchored to recognised standards.
Outcome
- Roles covered
- Senior consultant reskilled into AI-aligned delivery lead
- Approach
- Job Redesign reskilling with AI Users TSCs embedded in the OJT plan and live-engagement training vehicle
- Status
- Reskilling application progressed through eligibility and submission
- Strategic value
- Client formally repositioned a senior consultant as an AI-aligned delivery lead, supported by funded structured training during the reskilling period
Embedding TSCs directly into the JD and OJT plan rather than treating them as supporting documentation makes the reskilling case substantially more defensible. Workforce Singapore's frameworks exist precisely so that capability redesigns can be anchored to recognised standards. Using them up front is faster than retrofitting competency mapping after the application has been drafted.
