Twin applications-engineering reskilling at an industrial climate solutions manufacturer
Two existing engineers at the regional arm of a global industrial climate-solutions manufacturer (dehumidification and climate control), reskilled to take on broader applications scope across regulated verticals from semiconductor cleanrooms to pharma manufacturing environments.
Industry context
The client operated as the regional arm of a global industrial climate-solutions manufacturer specialising in dehumidification and climate-control systems for regulated environments. Regional growth was driven by new vertical-market projects: semiconductor cleanrooms with stringent humidity control, pharma manufacturing facilities with GMP-aligned process requirements, and food and beverage manufacturing environments. Each vertical had its own application context, but the underlying engineering knowledge was substantially shared.
What changed and why CCP applied
Two existing engineers needed structured reskilling to take on broader applications scope across multiple verticals. Their original roles had been narrower, focused on one or two vertical applications. The redesigned roles required them to operate fluently across multiple verticals, with a mix of technical applications work and commercial-engineering scope (proposal design, customer-side specification work, technical sales support).
Our strategy
We scoped both candidates onto a shared sectoral-context module covering regulated environment fundamentals, GMP-aligned process design, and vertical-specific applications across semiconductor, pharma, and F&B environments. On top of that shared base, each candidate had individual technical and commercial modules tailored to their existing strengths. This gave the client a more cohesive engineering team while keeping each application individually defensible against assessor review for templated content.
OJT activities included
- Drafting parallel OJT plans for two applications and sales engineers, each with individual technical and commercial modules layered on top of shared content.
- Building shared regulated-environment context modules reusable across both engineers, covering GMP-aligned process design and multi-vertical application context.
- Preparing reskilling justification narratives, eligibility documentation, and submission packages aligned to the relevant programme partner.
Outcome
- Roles covered
- Two applications and sales engineers reskilled for multi-vertical scope
- Approach
- Parallel reskilling with shared regulated-environment context + individual technical and commercial modules
- Status
- Both applications progressed through eligibility
- Strategic value
- Client established a more multi-vertical applications-engineering capability with funded structured training, supporting regional vertical-market expansion
Industrial manufacturing reskilling tends to work well when the redesigned scope crosses verticals rather than deepens within one. Most engineers already have the technical foundations; the constraint on commercial scaling is usually the breadth of vertical contexts they can credibly speak to. CCP funding for that kind of horizontal capability build is a strong fit.
