Four roles at one firm, routed through four different programme channels

Case / 2025−18 Corporate training / organisational capability consulting Four roles · four programme channels

A consultancy specialising in workforce capability and organisational development had four roles it wanted to convert. Rather than route all four through whichever channel it had used first, each role was assessed independently and submitted through the pathway that actually fitted it.

Industry context

Consulting firms sit awkwardly across sector classifications. The work is professional services, the clients span every industry, and the internal roles range from curriculum design to business development to digital marketing. That breadth is a problem when a firm assumes one programme partner covers everything it does.

What changed and why CCP applied

Two of the roles were job redesigns of existing staff whose scope had shifted materially; two were new-hire conversions. A business development director role was being redesigned into a digital growth and marketing leadership position, a genuine change of discipline rather than a title refresh. Each of the four had a different eligibility logic.

Our strategy

The central decision was to treat pathway selection as a per-role variable. Support duration, training subsidy treatment, and assessor expectations differ meaningfully between programme channels, and a role that is marginal under one channel can be strong under another. Four separate assessments were run before any application was lodged. Each submission then carried documentation shaped to that channel’s specific evidentiary expectations rather than a generic pack lightly edited four times.

Outcome

Roles
Business development director redesigned into digital growth and marketing lead; digital marketing manager; business development (overseas markets); training curriculum management
Channels used
Four distinct programme pathways
Application status
Submissions progressed across all four channels
Strategic value
Better support terms per role than single-channel routing would have delivered

Key takeaway

The pathway is a decision, not a default. Firms that route every application through the channel they used the first time leave support duration and subsidy treatment on the table, and occasionally lose an application that would have been comfortable somewhere else.
